2004 Acura TL.

This is the all new TL for 2004. Well, at least the design, inside and out. The rest of the car is all improved, but not "all new".

What is all new is the availability of a 6 speed manual transmission. That's mostly to please car magazines who always complain about the lack of manual transmission on any car. But in this "entry luxury" segment, almost nobody wants a manual. Therefore, dealers won't even order that model. Good luck finding one...

While the design is not really futuristic, it is a very good looking car. It looks stronger and simpler than the previous model. The interior is also better. Except for the parking brake handle on the console. Where automatic drivers will never use it. It is just plain ugly, and in the way.

Cars with the tan interior get (fake) wood finish in addition to the aluminum trim. A great look.

The new TL gets a more powerful version of the previous engine, with now 270hp. That is more than most people will ever use. The wheels are now larger too, with 17 inch rims. And they do look much better.

The car is about 5 inches shorter, but it is taller and roomier. It pretty much does everything better. Let's hope it didn't get too "sporty". It is not a sports car anyway.

Standard equipment now includes a DVD audio player (not that anyone is actually buying DVD audio discs...) and a wireless bluetooth connection for bluetooth phones. This is a very convenient feature that lets you use your phone without taking it out of your pocket.

It is more expensive than before, but still cheaper than a similar Lexus or Infiniti. Another great car from Acura.
